Hide & Seek
The new paintings demonstrate a different temperament and mind- set by the artist; gone are the highly saturated, active color palettes, replaced by a much more subtle, more slowly revealing process, where the viewer is rewarded for his or her patience. Where the totality of the paintings are released incrementally, in slowly realized fragments; within this game of ‘hide and seek’ each viewer is lead through the many layers as if sublimely rising to the surface of some mysterious body of water.
These new works seem less about the process of transmission and decidedly more about absorption, a quieter more introspective frame of mind, revealing many more relationships not seen at first glance.
